Why is hypnosis so effective in children?

Children’s brains are like sponges, so they say…

Their capability to learn is infinite, but they still don’t have the capacity to interpret what goes on around them, they tend to believe most things they’re told and everything is encoded as true.

Ordinary events may create a big impact in their lives and lead to maladaptive behaviour, i.e. someone laughed at your child at school and now they believe that ‘they are stupid’ or that ‘It is not worth going to class anymore’.

Children’s brains are like brand-new computers, in which we can install new programs. Their minds are open wide in regard to their capabilities and distorted beliefs can stick and install in their unconscious mind i.e.  ‘I’m not good enough’, ‘I’m not popular’ etc.

Specific circumstances like the divorce of their parents, an overly criticising teacher, a new school or a house move, may become overwhelming. Their inability to process some of these situations can create undesirable core beliefs that may affect their life.

Which issues can hypnotherapy help children with?

Hypnotherapy for children and teens can help with a range of issues, including the following:

  • bedwetting
  • anxiety
  • sports
  • school avoidance
  • developing healthy habits

  • grief
  • academic performance

  • videogames addiction
  • conflictive anger/emotion management
  • phobias
  • behavioural problems
  • self-esteem issues
  • stuttering…

Why is early therapy so important?

When I ask my adult clients, when was the first time you felt/reacted this way? Often their answer is – I can’t remember, I have always been this way!

So, we identify coping mechanisms and core beliefs that were built in childhood and are still present, without being aware of them.

The strategies that we build as children are unconscious and we can use them for the rest of our lives. If you change at an early age (childhood, teens), you can help prevent building maladaptive behaviours, bad habits, negative patterns, sleepless nights, addictions, insecurities and anxieties, which can last our lifetimes.

Children are always in this hypnotic brain wave state, where the brain is constantly open to receive, ready to explore – their eyes are open to see the world and learn new things.

Taking advantage of this early-age state of mind has the potential to create a life where we are more confident in ourselves, in our abilities, managing our emotions in a healthy way and being more consistent with our true values and desires.

Hypnosis is a safe and pleasant state where we surf the waves of the unconscious mind. With this practice your child will enjoy the creative and playful visualisations to uncover the desired change, the positive suggestions will empower them to be more confident and the relaxation state will help them to manage their emotions in a healthier way.

If your child is in conflict, it means that there is a part of them that knows what they want and that they deserve more from life. Hypnotherapy can help children and adolescents by providing a safe and effective way to explore their emotions and develop positive coping mechanisms.
